("Paul Moffatt's Stash", aka "Paul's".  May also have other local names.)

Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

Overview

  • Rated:  Not rated.  Probably not because of the pitch, but some of the trees can be pretty tight.
  • Type of trail:  Treed area not marked on the trail map.  Density and pitch vary, but it's somewhat similar to the Caribou Trees with some areas with MUCH greater pitch.
  • Head down the back using Gray Wolf, Black Bear, Marmot, Whitetail or Caribou.  Follow Caribou until its junction with Kodiak.  Just past that intersection on skier's right you will see where a large number of skiers have headed into the trees.
  • If you head in straight, the pitch is quite steep as you parallel Kodiak.  Bearing skier's left takes you to increasingly more gentle terrain.
  • Ski with a buddy, because there can be quite deep tree wells in here.
  • The skier will end up on the road connecting Caribou to the Tree Farms below Kodiak and Silver Tip.  The area below the road would be Caribou Trees.

Pictures in the area itself.

(More trips are probably needed to better show the area.  These pictures are of the gentler area off to skier's left after entering from the point in the above picture.  They are shown as we proceeded through the area, heading down.)
