Black Bear

Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

Overview

  • Rated:
  • Type of trail:  Normally a bump run, steep and rarely groomed.  Treed areas on either side are also skiable.  Seems to attract a lot of falling bodies, making the occasional side trip to the trees more desirable.
  • One of the trails on the back side, noted for its consistent snow quality throughout the season.  The "brother" of Marmot, a similar type slope.  For some reason, the moguls on Black Bear tend to be smaller than the moguls on Marmot.  Black Bear, Marmot, and Hollywood all have the "feature" of being highly visible from the chair, for those who care.  Exits onto Caribou.

Seen from Big Creek:

Marmot is the mogul run on the left, Black Bear is the mogul run on the right.  The skiers are on the Ant Hill.
