Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

Overview

  • Rated:
  • Type of trail:  Intermediate cruiser
  • After a short cat track leading past Black Bear, Black Bear TreesBig Horn, and Super Mario, Gray Wolf turns into a prime intermediate cruiser, undulating through glorious treed areas.  Aside from Inspiration, it is arguably one of the most beautiful runs on the mountain.
  • PLEASE DO NOT STOP ON THE UPPER CAT TRACK TO DISCUSS THINGS WITH 10 OF YOUR BEST FRIENDS.  THESE SEEMS TO BE PARTICULARLY A PROBLEM WITH THOSE CHECKING OUT BIG HORN.

Alternate route:

As the skier comes down the above pitch, after the trees clear on the right is this alternate pitch, not usually groomed.  It is a bit hidden at times due to the curvature of the trail.  Once down the pitch, you'll be heading to the left to the junction discussed next.

Looking back up from the Junction shown below at the normal route and this alternate pitch:

Junction with Big Horn and Caribou Connector.  (This is just left of the above picture and the more normal route.)  Big Horn comes in from the right, the connection to Caribou is straight ahead (keep your speed!) and Gray Wolf continues off to the LEFT:

Junction of Gray Wolf (head left) and Caribou Connector (head straight).  Keep up your speed, there is a PRONOUNCED uphill bit as you enter the connector.
