Big Horn

Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

Overview

  • Rated:
  • Type of trail: Steep, ungroomed run, frequently with a cornice-like entrance.
  • After a short cat track leading past Black Bear, and Black Bear Trees, Big Horn appears on the right.  The entrance can sometimes be a four to five foot drop before the slope begins.  An easier approach can be found entering through Black Bear Trees.
  • PLEASE DO NOT BLOCK THE GRAY WOLF CAT TRACK TRYING TO DECIDE IF YOU WANT TO GO DOWN THIS TRAIL!
  • The exit is an undulating road that connects with Gray Wolf near the cutoff for Caribou.
