The Nose

(also just called "East Rim" or "Performance")

Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

Overview

  • Rated:  ...unless it's well filled in with snow.
  • Type of trail:  Steep, ungroomed, some cliffs to watch out for.
  • Looking down the Ant Hill, off to the right on the ridge of East Rim, a cat track can be seen.  The lower third of the Ant Hill should be straight-lined because the track initially has an upward pitch.  Ski along the ridge and the Nose will be straight ahead.  It is important to not go too far left if you want to avoid cliffs.
  • The name Performance is because the snow slides (performs) regularly here.  Patrol blasts to make it safer.

Gate is in the distance.  Watch for cross traffic heading towards Moe-Mentum:

From the east.  The ridge area is what we are talking about.  Note that if you head too far to skier's left on the ridge, you'll find yourself in some extreme terrain!

From the south, zoomed in from below:

Looking down towards Whitey's:

Whitey's is just a sliver due to the slope.  The main trails seen are No Name and Moe-mentum:
