Lee's Way

(also know as "Evan's Lite" because it used to be just part of Evan's Heaven)

Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

Overview

  • Rated:
  • Type of trail:  Short, steepish but not extreme, treed area off Evan's that gets little traffic due to the short length of the section.  (Frankly, I hesitate to even mention this area because I like it so much.)  Starts out with a steep section, but after that it's just open trees with a moderate pitch.
  • There is a marked approach, but more generally you will enter from the entrance to Evan's Heaven.  Either entrance requires you to straightline the Russ's Street pitch after the Goat Haunt intersection, past Moose, to keep your speed up for a long flat section along the top part of Russ's Street.  First you'll see a sign for the entry to Evan's, which is where I normally go it, then shortly thereafter you'll see the Lee's Way sign.  The bottom of this area empties back onto Russ's Street.
  • If you are enjoying yourself and don't want to leave, you can cut back into Evan's Heaven after the first steep section by heading right, then around a short cliff, to get back into Evan's.  This has the advantage of a more "gentle approach" to Evan's and is much less tracked.
  • If you ski the less tracked areas look out for tree wells.

View of area approaching entrance:

You can enter either just to the right of the sign, or, to avoid some whoop-de-doos, just past the sign there is another clearing.  Please note, this sign seems to be moving around lately.  It was on the right side of the trail, but now seems to be (temporarily?) on skier's left:

Looking down the first pitch of Russ's Street, you can see the labeled entry to Lee's Way:

View coming in via the Evan's Heaven entrance:

Looking back at the above from where it opens up.  Skier in blue is coming through the marked Evan's entrance.  The easier entrance is just behind the skier in red:

Just through the Evan's entrance, looking out over the valley:

Lee's Way is NOT this direction, but off to skier's left, down the hill.

Looking down the first pitch.  Lee's Way would continue to skier's left towards that clearer area.

Looking up that same pitch, from approximately that gap in the picture above:

Moving further left as you proceed down the pitch is flatter.  View above, view below:
