East Rim Face

Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

Overview

  • Rated:  , but one of the easier ones.
  • Type of trail:  Ungroomed, treed area.  Multitude of lines available to vary the tree density, pitch, length of run, etc.
  • Looking down the Ant Hill, off to the right on the ridge of East Rim, a cat track can be seen.  The lower third of the Ant Hill should be straight-lined because the track initially has an upward pitch.  Ski along the ridge and East Rim Face runs along the cat track on your right.  Most skiers go almost to the Nose to get the most drop, but stopping shy of the Nose will likely give you fresher powder because of that.  An alternate route would be just to head down Moe-mentum and cut in where you like before the bottom.  You will lose a lot of vertical drop doing this, but that edge is less skied.

Gate is in the distance.  Watch for cross traffic heading towards Moe-Mentum:

Views across early (short) section of East Rim Face as you descend Moe-Mentum

This section is largely unskied due to its length (short).  Presumably you could hit the untracked, exit on Moe, then head back in again to the next section down.
