Gray's Golf Course

(The "golf course" reference is apparently to the number of tree wells; however, for the most part you can see them, so not as dangerous as some others)

Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

  • Rated:
  • Type of trail:  Lightly treed, steep area, just past Picture Chutes.  Two exit alternatives, one just lightly treed, requiring a traverse under Picture Chutes onto Glory Hole, the other down into dense trees.  The first choice allows you to exit via Highway to Heaven.  The second choice does not.
  • Coming off Chair One, head left towards Hell Fire.  Getting onto Hell Fire requires a bit of a straightline down towards Hell Fire because there is a bit of a hill where Hell Fire crosses the snowmobile track.  (DO NOT ASSUME THAT THESE GUYS WILL STOP!)  As you proceed along Hell Fire, you'll pass Picture Chutes, then see a sign on your RIGHT, pointing to the LEFT.
  • If you proceed straight down (as opposed to cutting into a left traverse under Picture Chutes) Gray's into the trees that are more to the skier's right than skier's left, you should probably have a buddy as that section (which dumps onto the second Hell Fire cat track) is less skied and there are usually tree wells.
  • If you take the trees skier's left, you should probably make that judgment about going in alone depending on conditions.  There could be tree wells, there might not be.  Please be careful if you go alone.  This alternative takes you into the lower section of Glory Hole.
