Haskill Slide

Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

Overview

  • Rated:
  • Type of trail:  Very steep, ungroomed area between Inspiration, No Name, and Over the Hill Gang.  Some cliffs.  Access is not marked.
  • Getting off Chair 1, head back over your right shoulder towards the front of the mountain and take the left fork as you leave the lift area.  Do not stop along the cat track or at the end of the cat track until you are out of the way on the far side of the ridge as bottlenecks could force people down into Space, which is NOT for everyone.  Continue as far as No Name and either head in at the top of No Name or part way down, OR head in via Cal's Country.  I'd love to be more specific, but the one time I tried to get there I declared a "no confidence" vote on the guy leading me in there as we ended up in some tight trees in a gully.  The only CLEARLY marked way in is part way down No Name, take a right where all the tracks go.  Hopefully, the pictures below will help you figure out other routes.  I'll try to get some better ones next season.

View from Russ's Street:

The open area on the left is the top section of Haskill Slide.  The trail in the center is No Name.  Most people cut in from No Name.

Cutting into the trees on the left side of the picture will take you into Haskill Slide as well.

View of entry from No Name, roughly on the same line as the exit from Elephant's Graveyard:  This will take you over to Haskill's and the area of chutes as you leave the treed area is called "Kings and Aces".

The rightmost area, where you will likely end up if you enter from No Name, is called Kings and Aces.

So you can get some idea of the pitch and the cliffs.
