Three Stooges

Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

Overview

  • Rated: .
  • Type of trail:  Very short treed area, moderate pitch, between Russ's Street and Expressway.  There are supposedly three different lines, hence the name.  They have small trees which may or not be showing depending on the season.  Since it faces south and is on the lower part of the mountain, the conditions in this area vary considerably during the season.  Every once in a great while (usually spring) the middle Stooge will be groomed.
  • Accessed from Russ's Street, Hogan's East or Hogan's.

View of the area seen dimly from Hogan's:

The Stooges are on the far side of the cat track (Russ's Street) seen in the picture, where the trees are.

Approach from Russ's Street:

The Stooges are on skier's left.  There are three of them.  The middle one is the most obvious as you pass them on Russ's.

View of first Stooge from bottom of Hogan's East:

There is a trail (usually groomed) also leaving off to the left in a curve down to Expressway.  That is NOT the Stooge.

Views of Stooge One from Expressway:

Early season:

Later in season.  The trail on the right is the groomed connector from Russ's Street down to Expressway.

Looking up at second or middle Stooge from Expressway:

Early season:

Expressway is the "road", the Stooge is on the right:
