Good Medicine

(locally, "Good Med")

Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

Overview

  • Rated:
  • Type of trail:  HUGE treed area on lower part of the mountain.  Excellent area to find out how you like trees as you can exit to the left for a good long ways and to the right at any point if you decide it's too much for you.
  • Getting off Chair 1, head back over your right shoulder towards the front of the mountain and take the right fork as you leave the lift area.  Follow either Big Ravine or Toni Matt to get to Good Medicine, which is in between the two of them..
  • On foggy days, I'd recommend entering from Big Ravine just BELOW the sort of road leading into the snowmaking ponds.  The area just to the left of the ponds AND the road can both develop huge swoops that are traps for the unaware.  Entering via the treed area takes that out of the equation.
  • On the trail map, the snowmaking ponds are marked as a separate area and marked black diamond.  Much of that area is pretty flat and not noticeably different than Good Med.  Pictures are included WITH this listing as I don't know anyone who considers it to be "separate".
  • I have to apologize for having so MANY pictures of this area.  However, it is huge and I started out with 203 pictures to choose from.  Getting it down to this many was a tough job!

View of main entry:

Although possible to enter earlier, the most used entry is the road seen leading off to the left.  Entering just below that road is recommended if the fog is really dense.

Keep well left and look for the snowmaking ponds.  A trail runs alongside which takes you to the top of Good Med's left hand area.
