Big Ravine

Clicking on the photos enlarges them.  Photos are taken as you come down the hill.  They have been taken over several years, so conditions shown will vary depending on what was happening the day the particular photo was taken.  Photos looking back up the hill will be described as such.

Overview

  • Rated:
  • Type of trail:  Intermediate cruiser.  Groomed most days.  Better for visibility on foggy days than Toni Matt or Inspiration.
  • Getting off Chair 1, head back over your right shoulder towards the front of the mountain and take the right fork as you leave the lift area.
  • On foggy days, visibility is better if you hug the right side on the first pitch, transition to the left side after the flat section, and then exit via Interstate.  Otherwise, bear left around the bend on the second pitch to ski the entire length.
  • Be aware there are a lot of people just bombing this trail, especially the lower section during weekends and holidays.  If you are exiting at Interstate, make sure you ski down the right side of the second pitch so you don't cut off "thru traffic".
